This project is the rehabilitation of a building dating from the 1870’s situated in central Bordeaux, an area called ‘Les Chartons’. It was made up of 2 different parts, a stone building, the size and width proportional to the street lengthened by an old timber warehouse towards the back of the plot.

The available floor surface area was 450m2.

The project places itself within a structural grid divided into 7 sections, each with a length of 17m, parallel to the street. 3 are formed by the large stone walls and the others by the old timber trusses.

The accommodation occupies the main building and thus 4 structural spans of the warehouse, of which 2 were removed to create a new terrace. Living revolves around this terrace.

Each of these habitable spans is home to a specific function: relaxing, working, sleeping, outside and guest bedrooms.

The two axes running perpendicular to the street link the spans between them and highlight the succession of structural layers from the street to the end of the site.
